The filter unit comprises a (tubular) housing divided into two chambers by a (tubular) diaphragm, at least one inlet and one outlet for the first chamber and at least one outlet from the second chamber. The chamber contains a scraper (brushes in rotatable carrier which is in contact with the surface of the diaphragm and rotatable relative thereto or vice versa. The diaphragm may be carried on a rigid rod in the chamber which is provided with annular grooves (screw thread) and axial grooves.
