<p>The proline derivs. of formula (I) in which R is H or lower alkyl or alkoxy, R1 and R2 are H or lower alkyl, are made by (a) reacting an alkyl 2-amino 4-aryl butyrate of formula (II) with acetaldehyde and cyanide to obtain 2-(1-cyanoethyl) amino 4-aryl butyric acid alkyl ester; (b) reacting the prod. with tert. butanol and HCl; (c) treating with trifluoroacetic acid and then reacting with 1-chloro phospha-cyclopentane to obtain a mixed anhydride; and (d) reacting this with proline.</p> |
