The vessel of the pump is submerged and has a central tube protruding from the top and terminating within the lower section of the vessel. A larger diameter inlet tube enters through the base of the vessel. A connecting rod interconnects valves above and below the central tube. - Compressed air is supplied to the vessel through a branch and water is discharged through an outlet connected to the upper section of the central tube. A 'U'-tube extends from high level in the vessel and connects into the central tube in line with the discharge pipe. Differential pressure across the two valves closes the lower valve during filling of the vessel.
