<p>The system has a non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP) monitoring device (10) including a blood pressure cuff (12) positionable on a patient. The non-invasive blood pressure monitoring device includes a calculating unit operable to receive oscillation signals from a transducer within the blood pressure cuff and to estimate the patient`s blood pressure based upon the oscillation signals. A carbon monoxide detection device (52) is operable to determine a carbon monoxide level present within the patient. A calculating unit modifies the pressure estimate based upon the detected carbon monoxide level. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for monitoring the blood pressure of a pregnant patient (2) a method of enhancing the operation of a non-invasive blood pressure monitor.</p> |
