<p>Mfr. of a dangerous chemical substance consisting of a dangerous gas dissolved in a liq., e.g. ClO2 in water, comprises bringing the reactants from their respective sources at a predetermined rate to their respective inlets in a reaction chamber, where they flow through intercommunicating passages in the chamber so as to mix and react, and then flow out. The reaction chamber incorporates an instrument to measure the concn. of reaction prod. and a diluent feed, operated when the concn. exceeds a predetermined value. The inlets are near to one another to ensure early mixing. The reaction chamber is a vertical cylinder in which are coaxial tubes defining annular spaces. Intermediates spaces communicate at one end with the outer adjacent space and at the other end with the inner adjacent space. The passage bring about rigorous mixing and there are no large spaces where dangerous pockets of gas can accumulate. The plant is safe and reliable and allows a conc. soln. of a dangerous gas in a liq. to be made on a large scale without the need of a costly and space-consuming installation.</p> |
