PURPOSE:To prevent paper jamming and unnecessary operation by interrupting the image forming operation of the image forming device in operation or preventing the device in stand-by mode from entering new image forming operation in response to a stop signal generated when an attachment device is unusable. CONSTITUTION:A sorter operation signal S-BUSY indicating whether the sorter is usable or not is outputted from a sorter control part 56 and inputted to a copying machine control part 51. When detecting the on level of the signal S- BUSY, the copying machine control part 51 interrupts the operation of the device if it is in continuous copying operation or changes the display on a display part 55 from a copy ready symbol 64 to a copy unready symbol 65 and also inhibits the device from starting operation even by operation of a copy switch 52 if in stand-by mode. The signal S-BUSY turns on when the copying operation should not be performed by the time the movement of a bin group 35 is completed as well as when a paper jam occurs in the sorter, when the mode of the sorter is changed, or when the sorter is being initialized after being powered on. |
