PURPOSE:To eliminate the variance of pictures produced when a manual scan is carried out over a foam by means of a speed detecting means that detect the speed of the direction approximately orthogonal to the scanning direction of a scan part. CONSTITUTION:A scan part has a slender box shape, and mobile rollers 1-4 are provided at the bottom part of the box. These rollers are revolved only in a single direction. The rollers 1 and 2 are connected with a rubber blet 5; while rollers 3 and 4 are connected with a belt 6 respectively. Then rotary shaft encoders 7 and 8 are connected to each end of rollers 1 and 3. these encoders 7 and 8 output the speed signals of the direction approximately orthogonal to the scanning direction of the scan part. The distortions of picture signals are corrected by said speed signals.
