METHOD FOR ANALYZING AND RECORDING ION CLEAVAGE REACTION

PURPOSE:To obtain an easy to see spectral record by recording ordinarily the spectrum of the daughter ion formed by collision activation on the upper side of a base line and recording downward the spectrum of the daughter ion formed by natural cleavage on the lower side of the base line. CONSTITUTION:A computer CPU sets a magnetic field B to meet the assigned mass M0. The computer makes first voltage sweeping of an electric field E without introducing a collision gaseous He into a collision chamber C and without impressing a voltage thereto and stores the output from an ion detector MP in this stage into a memory M. The data obtd. in this stage is the mass spectrum of the daughter ion by the natural cleavage of the sample ion. The CPU reads out the data obtd. by the final 1st magnetic sweep after introduction of the gaseous He and impression of voltage from the memory M, outputs the same to a recorder R so as to be recorded downward on the lower side of the base line. The computer removes the spectral peak corresponding to the spectral peak existing in the 1st data from the data obtd. by the 2nd sweep of the electric field and outputs the data to the recorder R so as to be recorded on the upper side of the base line.
