PURPOSE:To constitute the titled device so that a strand is cooled sufficiently, damage of a carrier belt resulting from the strand is escaped from occurring and the strand is carried in by the carrier belt in a stable posture, by harmonizing a flowing direction and a rate of cooling water with a receiving rate of the strand. CONSTITUTION:Two sets of water supply pipes 17, 17 and guide rolls 20, 21 are arranged up and down at an inlet part of a cooling tank, cold water C is made to flow out at once from a porthole 18 provided on a lower corner of each of the water supply pipes and poured to shoulder corners confronting with the guide rollers 20, 20. It happens that a lag is not generated in a flowing-down rate of the cold water as the cold water flows down through turning of the guide rolls 20, 20, and the cold water flows down at identical rates with strands S, S running along the shoulder corners of the guide rolls 20, 20. In this result, the high-temperature strand being pushed out and coming into the cooling tank one after another is cooled primarily and evenly extending over whole width of the guide rolls 20, 20, secondary cooling in a first, second and bottom baths 2, 3, 4 after that is performed effectively and the strand whose degree in solidification is even is supplied to a granulating machine 16 through an outlet of the cooling tank. |
