Evaporator unit

The evaporator unit has, on the solution side, a plurality of evaporator bodies (11 to 15) and a plurality of expansion vessels (22, 24, 26) which are connected in series and communicate with likewise series-connected expansion vessels (32, 34, 36) for the condensate water. Upstream of each expansion vessel (22, 24 or 26), there is a further expansion vessel (21, 23 or 25) which is connected by its vapour branch in each case to a mixing condenser (41, 42) or to a heat exchanger (65). The mixing condensers (41, 42) and the heat exchanger (65) belong to the series connection of the evaporator bodies (11 to 15). The evaporator unit can be used with advantage in the alumina industry. <IMAGE>
