PURPOSE:To attain a thinned reduction display by shifting the picture data cyclically to store them in a display memory and reading selectively each memory address to output them after rearranging them in the order of memory elements. CONSTITUTION:When the picture data are written to a display memory through a memory control part 15', the first data array 18 is supplied to a shift register 19 with odd addresses supplied as they are and even addresses supplied with shift by a bit. Then the data of the register 19 is read out and divided into odd and even memory groups 20 and 21. Then +1 is applied to the even address in an odd thinning mode and +1 is applied to the odd address in an even thinning mode through address control parts 22 and 22' respectively. In the case of the even thinning with an odd display, for example, the group 20 is used for address shift. Then the data are rearranged again by a multiplexer 23 of a display control part 16' in the order of memory elements for easier display.
