NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I [X and Y are lower alkyl; A is imidazolyl, triazolyl, (halogen-, lower alkyl-substituted) pyrazolyl, benzimidazolyl, or benztriazolyl; R1 is H, halogen, haloalkyl; R2 is R1, or haloalkoxy] and its metallic salt. EXAMPLE:N-( 3-Chloro-4-trifluoromethoxyphenyl )-N'-( 2-methylbenzoyl )-1-imidazolcarboxyamidine. USE:An insecticide. Having a wide insecticidal spectrum, showing improved effects on various insect pests belonging to the order Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, Diptera, etc., having destroying action on larvae and on insect eggs. When the insecticide is applied to imagoes, it has destroying action on eggs produced by them. PREPARATION:A compound shown by the formula II obtained from the reaction between azole and SOCl2, without isolation, is reacted with a thiourea shown by the formula III in an organic solvent at 0-50 deg.C for 5-10hr, to give a compound shown by the formula I.
