PURPOSE:To obtain a cell construction which is easily made large, simple in structure, and attainable to high efficiency by providing long positive columns in the cell construction by the subtle use of limited space of unit discharge cell. CONSTITUTION:A cathode bus DCB is arranged on a rear substrate RG and is connected to cathodes DC through resistances R and phosphor ph is adhered to the rear substrate RG. On a front substrate RG placed with cell sheets of insulator between it and the rear substrate RG, display anode buses DAB and display anodes DA are adhered, and their surfaces are covered with a transparent insulator IG except the display anode portions. A scanning anode SA is adhered on a light shading layer LS. The product pd of the indicating panel tube pressure p and the distance d between the cathode and display anode is set to be 8Torr.cm or more to form positive columns and the ultraviolet rays emitted from the positive columns are utilized for the purpose. The positive columns are arranged between the display anodes DA and the cathodes DC, which are facing with each other on a diagonal line of each square discharge cell. |
