PURPOSE:To detect the roll remainder easily and correctly by providing a pattern on a plane perpendicular to the rotary shaft of the roll-like recording paper and detecting it. CONSTITUTION:A predetermined pattern 4 rotating as a result of the rotation of the roll-like recording paper 3 is provided on a plane perpendicular to the rotary shaft 1 of the roll-like recording paper 3, a sensor 6 provided at a position where this pattern 4 can be detected detects the change of the pattern resulting from the rotation of the roll-like recording paper 3, thereby the number of rotations of the roll-like recording paper 3 is measured, and the remainder table of the roll-like recording paper 3 is detected based on this measured number of rotations. Accordingly, the remainder table of the roll-like recording paper can be detected very easily and correctly. |
