PURPOSE:To obtain the titled cosmetic having excellent emulsion stability, viscosity stability, moisture-retainability, feeling, durability on the skin, etc., free from irritation to the skin, and useful for the treatment of skin, hair, etc., by mixing a specific water-soluble polyamide with a specific oleagenous substance for cosmetic, and water. CONSTITUTION:An emulsion-type cosmetic can be prepared by (1) adding a water-soluble polyamide having a relative viscosity of 1.9-2.5, containing the recurring unit of formula I and obtained by the homopolymerization of alpha-(N,N-dimethylamino)-epsilon-caprolactam, or a water-soluble polyamide having a relative viscosity of 1.9-2.5 and containing >=40mol% structural unit of formula II obtained by the copolymerization of the above epsilon-caprolactam derivative and epsilon- caprolactam and <=60mol% structural unit of formula III, to a water phase, (2) heating the mixture, (3) mixing the solution with a higher fatty acid such as stearic acid and a water-insoluble oleagenous cosmetic substance free from ionizable group, e.g. stearyl alcohol, etc., and (3) cooling the obtained mixture. |
