摘要 PURPOSE:To increase the recording speed and recording sensitivity of an optical recording member and to improve the moisture resistance thereof by constituting said member of a glassy material consisting of the oxide of a metal or semimetal and a Te alloy. CONSTITUTION:This recording member is deposited by a vapor deposition method on a resin substrate, for which an electron beam method is used to provide stability and mas productivity of vapor deposition. The mixture composed of the oxide such as TeO2, GeO2, SnO2 or SiO2 and the metal such as Te and Ge or In is used for the compd. to be used for forming the amorphous film consisting of the oxide of the metal or semimetal and the Te alloy. One oxide of the metal or semimetal is used and the other material, i.e., the alloy such as GeTe or the powder of Te and Ge is mixed therewith and the mixture is pelletized in the case of using the two sources in the electron beam method. The sources are deposited by evaporation on the substrate, by which the amorphous film consisting of the oxide of the metal of semimetal and the Te alloy is obtd. A thin film is formed by vapor deposition on the substrate to about 1,000-2,000Angstrom and a laser is irradiated from the outside so that the change in the refractive index, transmittance and reflectivity with the change in the state of the recording member is recorded and reproduced as information.
