PURPOSE:The titled additive, containing an aliphatic aldehyde addition condensate of sulfonated naphthalene, etc., an unsaturated monocarboxylic acid polymer, etc. and polystyrenesulfonate, etc. as essential components, and capable of stably dispersing coal powder in water. CONSTITUTION:An additive for coal-water slurry containing (A) one or more surfactants selected from aliphatic aldehyde (RA) addition condensate of sulfonated (alkyl)naphthalene, RA addition condensate of sulfonic acid group-containing aminotriazine, RA addition condensate of sulfonated creosote oil and lignin sulfonate, etc., (B) one or more of unsaturated monocarboxylic acid (RC) polymers, RC/alpha,beta-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid, etc. and RC/vinyl monomer copolymer, etc. and (C) polystyrenesulfonate and/or styrene/styrenesulfonate copolymer as essential components.
