The subject of the invention relates to an electrocatalytic sensor intended for detecting dilute ethanol vapour in pulmonary air. It is characterised by the application of the conductimetric measurement principle which consists in measuring the variation of the current which results at the anode electrode 2 from the oxidation reactions of the ethanol vapour, at constant inter-electrode voltage, it being specified that the electrode is activated by an appropriate catalytic coating in combination with a solid cation electrolyte 1 provided with a non-polarisable reducing counter-electrode at the required potential. It allows the carrying out of automatic quantitative and qualitative detection in a shorter time with maximum precision. <IMAGE>
