The stand consists of a foot part and of a securing part which can be connected to the latter in the manner of a ball joint to secure the tree trunk, a fixing device being provided for the releasable attachment of the securing part on the foot part, and the securing part being designed as a water container. In order to simplify handling and to improve the connection between the foot part and the securing part, the following features are provided: a. the securing part (2) has, externally, the shape of a ball with a radially oriented hole (4) opening at the top, and a screw (6), arranged coaxially with the hole, is provided in the hole (4); b. the socket (11) of the joint is designed as a cylindrical hole whose diameter is approximately equal to the diameter of the ball and whose depth is greater than the height of the securing part (2); c. the socket (11) of the joint is limited in the upper region by a tubular, elastically resilient wall, and d. a tension strap (3), surrounding the abovementioned region of the socket of the joint and clamping the securing part (2) in the socket (11) of the joint is provided. <IMAGE>
