The invention relates to a device for the automatic assembly of the carcase of a vehicle pneumatic tyre, in which the tyre is wound and cambered to form the tyre blank in a single mounting operation, and to a process for producing a tyre on the device. The device is characterised by a winding drum with metal segments which is adjustable in diameter and by a respective bellows auxiliary drum which is disposed at an extension of the longitudinal axis of the winding drum, is also equipped with adjustable-diameter metal segments and furthermore has an overhanging, segmented bellows-carrier part which, in the radially external position, can be pushed axially over the retracted winding drum.
