<p>Detecting the level of cryogenic liquids by means of current- carrying sensors becomes inaccurate when the temperature of the liquid fluctuates, e.g. as a result of changes in pressure, since the signal of the sensor is compared to a constant reference voltage that can be set in the measuring instrument. In order to enable the liquid level to be measured without being influenced by temperature fluctuations, the reference voltage is supplied by a reference sensor (2,9) which is arranged at a location which is as low as possible in the cryogenic container (7), so that it is always surrounded by liquid (10). The reference sensor is then exposed to the same temperature changes as the sensors (1,8). The effect of temperature is thereby balanced. <IMAGE></p> |
