Shut-off fitting

The shut-off fitting has a housing which consists of the two connection pieces, which lie in the throughflow direction, for the passage of the flowing medium, and of a central housing chamber, in which the shut-off element is accommodated. The housing is closed off towards the top by a housing head which is integral with it and which is provided with a central threaded hole through which the spindle is screwed into the housing and in which a screw plug is then inserted, the said plug guiding the spindle shank in a sealing manner. The wall of the housing chamber has a lateral installation opening for the shut-off element, which opening can be closed by a cover. The housing bears a plurality of holding claws which engage round the rim of the cover at intervals. The cover is secured sealingly on the housing by means of tightening pins driven in between the holding claws of the housing and the rim of the cover. Neither the abutments of the holding claws on the housing nor the counter-abutments on the cover need be machined mechanically, and the threaded blind holes which are otherwise required in a screwed joint are eliminated.
