PURPOSE:To obtain color images with high quality and favorable preservability through easy registration, by a method wherein each of recording media comprising transparent sheets provided with recording layers of three primary colors based on substractive color mixture, respectively, is subjected to recording of complemantary color image information, and the recording media are laminated in registration with each other to obtain a color image. CONSTITUTION:An ink sheet 5 comprising a one-page amount of a heat-fusible ink layer Y, M, C on a transparent sheet form film 51 and a transfer recording paper 6 are fed between a recording head 1 and a platen 2, and thermal transfer is conducted in accordance with image information SB, SG, SR of a color complementary to the color of the color ink layer. The ink sheets 5Y, 5M, 5C thus subjected to transferring are laminated on a sheet form substrate 7 in registration with each other, and are pressed against the substrate 7 to obtain a predetermined color image IC. The transfer recording papers 6 used already for transferring are discarded. The lamination on the substrate 7 is carried out by, for example, a method wherein the substrate 7 is fitted to a drum 11 having a circumference equal to the pitch of the ink layers, then the ink sheets subjected to recording are wound around the substrate 7 in three steps, and the sheets are cut by a cutter. |
