PURPOSE:To obtain a fuel cell using a solid electrolyte and having a high electromotive force by using an oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte expressed by a general equation SmaNdbFcOd with (a), (b), (c), (d) specified. CONSTITUTION:An oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte expressed by a general equation SmaNdbFcOd is used to form a fuel cell, where (a)=2.18-9.82, (b)= 2.18-9.82, (c)=12-29.45, (d)=3.25-12, a+b=12, c+2d=36. The thickness of the solid electrolyte is adequately about 1mu-5mm. in general. As the material for a positive electrode, for example, platinum, silver, cobalt, or a perovskite-series material, etc. such as LaCoO3 can be used, and as the material for a negative electrode, for example, a metal-series material such as platinum, silver, cobalt, or a perovskite-series oxide material, etc. can be used as appropriate. |
