Dihydropyridine derivatives of the formula:
<Chemistry id="chema01" num="0001"><Image id="ia01" he="24" wi="83" file="IMGA0001.TIF" imgContent="chem" imgFormat="TIFF" inline="no" /></Chemistry>and their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts; wherein R is an optionally substituted aryl or heteroaryl group;
<UnorderedLists id="ula01" listStyle="none"><ListItem>R<Sup>1</Sup> and R<Sup>2</Sup> are each independently C,-C. alkyl or 2-methoxyethyl ;</ListItem><ListItem>Y is -(CH<Sub>2</Sub>)<Sub>n</Sub>- where n is 2, 3 or 4 or -CH<Sub>2</Sub>CH(CH<Sub>3</Sub>)- , and Het is an optionally substituted 5- or 6-membered aromatic heterocyclic group attached to the adjacent oxygen atom by a carbon atom.</ListItem></UnorderedLists>

The compounds have utility as anti-ischaemic and antihypertensive agents
