PURPOSE:To obtain carbonyl sulfide at a high space velocity in a high yield by reacting CO with S in the presence of a specified metallic sulfide. CONSTITUTION:A gaseous mixture of gaseous CO contg. H2 in 0.25-1.5 molar ratio of CO/H2 with S in 0.8-2.0 molar ratio of S/CO is introduced into a reaction tower packed with a prescribed amount of one or more kinds of anhydrous metallic sulfides selected among ZnS, CdS and PbS as a catalyst, and the gaseous mixture is brought into a catalytic reaction at 250-500 deg.C under ordinary or elevated pressure at 500-2,000hr<-1> space velocity. |
