The filter, which is installed in a drying-air pipe of a drycleaning machine, comprises a fine-mesh sieve which is fixed within a filter housing and extends across the cross-sectional area of the passage. To be able to clean this filter quickly and simply and without process disruption, the sieve (3) has been curved cylindrically in such a way that the side facing the gas flow is concave. A pivot axis (4) arranged within the area of the axis curvature of the sieve (3) is surmounted by a lever which is provided with a pivot drive (7) and which carries on its free end a suction nozzle (6) which extends approximately across the sieve width and which is movable over the concave sieve side at a minimal distance therefrom. The suction nozzle (6) is connected via a hose (13) with or without pipes and a housing (16) which contains a removable separate filter (17) to a suction air source (18).
