<p>PURPOSE:To execute uniformly rubbing processing by using a rubbing roll by which its rotational contact surface conforms with the shape of an oriented film forming surface, rotating it so as to contact the oriented film forming surface, and moving it on the oriented film forming surface. CONSTITUTION:A transparent electrode of a prescribed pattern is formed on an inside end face 210 of a substrate 21 and an inside end face 220 of a substrate 22. An oriented film is formed on the inside end faces 210, 220 on which the electrode has been formed. Rubbing processing is performed to the oriented film formed on the inside end face 210 by using a roughly elliptical rubbing roll 11 whose center part has swollen out, and rubbing processing is performed to the oriented film formed on the inside end face 220 by using a rubbing roll 12 whose center part has been constricted. A curvature in the axial direction of a rotational contact surface of the rolls 11, 12 and a curvature in the same direction of the substrates 21, 22 are set to a curvature by which the rotational contact surface and the oriented film forming surface can contact each other uniformly, and the rolls 11, 12 are rotated so as to contact the oriented film forming surface, and also moved on the oriented film forming surface. Subsequently, a liquid crystal is enclosed by opposing the oriented films to each other, and a curved surface liquid crystal element whose oriented direction is uniform can be obtained.</p> |
