SURFACE TREATMENT OF METAL WITH LASER LIGHT

PURPOSE:To form an alloy layer on a base metal with irradiated laser light even when a metal having a low laser light absorption factor is used, by coating the surfaces of metallic particles coating the surface of the base metal with a metal having a high laser light absorption factor. CONSTITUTION:The surfaces of fine particles 2 of a metal different from the metal of a base metal 1 are coated with a metal having a high laser light absorption factor, and the surface 4 of the base metal 1 is thinly coated with the coated particles 2. Laser light 7 is irradiated on the resulting layer 5 to melt the particles 2 and the surface 4 of the base metal 1. By the melting an alloy layer 8 is formed on the surface 4 of the base metal 1.
