LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

An LCD is provided to improve the aperture ratio through a plurality of liquid crystal domains, by using a liquid crystal layer containing chiral dopants, a pixel electrode having a division pattern, and a common electrode having a division pattern. An LCD comprises a first substrate(100) including a thin film transistor electrically connected to a gate line and a data line, and a pixel electrode connected to the thin film transistor, a second substrate(200) including a common electrode(221), and a VA(Vertical Alignment) mode liquid crystal layer(300) positioned between the first substrate and the second substrate. The liquid crystal layer contains chiral dopants. The pixel electrode has a first division pattern(144), and the common electrode has a second division pattern(222). Liquid crystals in the liquid crystal layer are lengthily extended by the first division pattern and the second division pattern, and divided into a plurality of domains having widths of above 20 um.
