<p>The apparatus has a turbine wheel or disc (D) rotatably mounted in a chamber (C) formed within a housing (H) through which the gas to be measured passes from a nozzle (48). Teeth or turbine blades (T) are formed around the periphery of the disc for receiving the impact of the gas from the nozzle to drive the disc. A photoelectric circuit directs light onto side portions of disc (D) comprising reflective portions (26) alternating with nonreflective portions (28) and receives reflected light from the portions (26) to measure the relative movement of the disc in response to impact of the gas on the blades (T). </p> |
