PURPOSE:To grind small and thin work such as a part of clock with high efficiency and accuracy by providing grinding wheels vertically on a vertical surface grinding machine while holding the work carrying belt between them thereby grinding the upper and lower faces of work simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:The work carrying belt 1 is made of thin endless steel plate and entrained over drive and driven pulleys 3, 4 to be advanced in horizontal direction as shown by arrow A with slow speed. Many rows of holes 2 to be penetreated with the upper and lower endfaces of a work W are made through the carry belt 1. Upper side grinding wheel 5 having the lower end side plane as the grinding face and lower side grinding wheel 6 having the upper end side plane as the grinding face are provided while holding the belt 1 vertically at the intermediate section of upper movable section of said belt 1 to enable simultaneous grinding of the upper and lower face of the work W. Both of said grinding wheels 5, 6 can be adjusted of vertical position and rotate in the opposite directions.
