PURPOSE:To increase working speed in electric-discharge machining and obtain the superior surface state of a workpiece and the superior working performance by using an alloy wire which consists substantially of Cu and contains each specific wt% Zn and Si. CONSTITUTION:Though Zn increases working speed and contributes to the rise of the strength of an alloy wire, the content is preferably 5-38wt%, and in case of less than 5wt%, the effect is reduced, and in case of 38wt% or more, the extension work to form a thin wire is made markedly difficult. The content of Si is most preferable at 0.1-0.5wt%, and the strength of the alloy wire is increased, in particular the high-temperature strentgh at 300-400 deg.C where the wire is used for electric-discharge machining is increased, and the wire breakage during working is prevented, and further the adhesion due to the transition of the electrode-wire component to a workpiece is prevented. In case of less than 0.1%, the effect is reduced, and in case of 0.5% or more, the workability is reduced markedly. Therefore the superior working speed is secured, and in particular, the adhesion of the electrode-wire components onto the workpiece is reduced, and the electric-discharge machining with the superior surface state of the workpiece is permitted. |
