AN ELECTRONIC SAFETY DEVICE FOR AN ELECTRIC FLAT-IRON A movable body such as a magnet is capable of moving freely on a substantially rectilinear and horizontal surface within a housing of a laundry iron when ironing is in progress. The magnet cooperates with a switch associated with a timer for automatically cuttingoff the supply of current to the iron at the end of a predetermined period of non-use. A displacement of the magnet either in one direction or in the other produces at least one sequence of opening and closing of the switch contacts for zero-resetting of the timer and maintenance of the current supply to the heating resistor.
