<p>PURPOSE:To produce easily a metallic bar having unidirectionally solidified structure by passing the metallic bar such as a wire, rod or plate having different shapes through the inside of a heating mold provided with a melting zone. CONSTITUTION:The metallic bar material 4 worked preliminarily to a wire-, rod- or plate shape by plastic working is passed through the inside of a heating mold 1 by pinch rolls 5. The mold 1 is constituted of a thermally insulating material 3 and is provided with a heating element such as a coil 2 of an induction heater. The material 4 is once melted by the melting zone 11 formed in the mold 1 in the stage of passing through the inside of said mold and is then moved by the revolution of pinch rolls 6. The temp. of the inside wall in the outlet of the mold is so adjusted as to attain the temp. right above the solidifying temp. of the bar 4. The melted metallic bar solidifies in the outlet of the mold 1 and is drawn out freshly as the metallic bar 12 consisting of the unidirectionally solidified structure. The drawn out bar is cooled down to an ordinary temp. by cooling sprays 8. The production of the metallic bar consisting of the single crystal is also possible by using a metallic bar dummy attached with the single crystal.</p> |
