PURPOSE:To stabilize temperature in a reactor, to make particle diameters of polymer particles uniform, to improve yield, and to shorten a polymerization cycle, by carrying out fine temperature control based on temperature and the aimed temperature in the reactor. CONSTITUTION:The polymerization rate difference delta between the preset aimed polymerization rate Y and the polymerization rate y calculated from heat release value of polymerization measured in a short time period is calcuated, and the aimed set temperature T is calculated based on both the polymerization rate difference delta and the temperature chracteristics of decomposition rate of a polymerization initiator. The temperature difference DELTAQ between the aimed set temperature T and the detected temperature TR in the reactor detected in the short time period is calculated, and the temperature TR in the reactor is controlled based on the temperature difference DELTAQ in the short time period. In control method, heat removal or heating means of jacket type to regulate a flow rate of steam or water depending upon the temperature difference DELTAQ is usually used.
