PURPOSE:To apply excellent drawability to a coiled steel wire rod by immersing and passing said wire rod into a tank contg. a refrigerant consisting of the gas- water mixed phase flow which is kept vigorously stirred, is dispersed uniformly with many pieces of oxidizing foam and is maintained at a prescribed temp. thereby subjected the wire rod to adjustment cooling. CONSTITUTION:The annular coil of the middle and high carbon steel wire rod which is hot rolled, has the metallic structure exhibiting austenite and it at a high temp. is subjected to the adjusted cooling while the coil in a developed state is transferred in an approximately horizontal direction. The coil is thus subjected directly to the heat treatment. The adjustment cooling is executed by immersing and passing the annular coil into the tank contg. the refrigerant consisting of the gas-water mixed flow which is kept vigorously stirred, is dispersed uniformly with many pieces of the oxidizing foam and is kept at the prescribed temp. of <=95 deg.C and fluidizing the refrigerant in a prescribed direction at a prescribed speed, thereby applying the uniform cooling conditions over the entire length of the coil. |
