PREPARATION:1mol of the apovincaminic acid of formula III is made to react with preferably 2-3mol of thionyl chloride in an inert solvent such as DMF, etc. in the stream of an inert gas preferably N2 gas or Ar gas, etc. at the refluxing temperature of the solvent for 0.5-1hr.
