PURPOSE:To stabilize fixing performance for a long term by using one of a pair of fixing rollers, composed of a base having a surface layer made of Fe3O4, and a coating layer formed on this surface. CONSTITUTION:A pressing roller 2 for pressing a heat fixing roller 1 is made by forming the Fe3O4 surface 20 on the core metal roller base 7 to serve as its rotational central shaft; as its coating layer, a primer layer 72, e.g., made of a one- component type RTV silicone rubber, formed by coating the surface 20; on this primer 72, a silicone sponge layer 8; and finally, an elastic coating layer 9 formed by coating the layer 8 with the RTV silicone rubber. Although the pressing roller 2 undergoes repeated heating and load under high temp. and pressure, it has superior rust preventive effect, and moreover, adhesion excellent in durability and stabilized for a long period, between the roller base 7 and the coating layer 9, and hence, the fixing performance of nonfixed images can be retained for a long term. |
