<p>PURPOSE:To let a catalyst to exhibit sufficiently high O2-storing effect by prepg. the catalyst by coating slurry contg. solid components comprising activated alumina and a specified Ce salt, and drying and calcining the coated material. CONSTITUTION:The slurry contg. activated alumina and powdery solid component of Ce salt which is scarcely soluble in water and forms an oxide of Ce by calcining in the air is coated on a monolithic carrier. Then, activated alumina film having many macropores having >=0.1mu pore size is formed on the carrier by drying and calcining the carrier, and Ce is deposited to the macropores selectively at the same time. Suitable Ce salt which forms Ce oxide is Ce oxalate and Ce carbonate.</p> |
