PURPOSE:To produce easily a high-strength cylinder liner with less man-hour by pouring a molten metal into a casting mold then removing slag, etc., inserting a steel reinforcing member into the prescribed position and insert-casting the cylinder. CONSTITUTION:The metal 3 of a cast iron which is a base metal of the cylinder liner is poured into the casting mold 2. The slag, etc. floating on the surface of the molten 3 are thereafter removed then the steel reinforcing member 1 made into a cylindrical shape is sunk and inserted into the metal 3 coaxially with the cylinder liner. Columnar members 11 which guide the member 1 during the insertion and support the member after the insertion are erected atop a core 5 before the member 1 is inserted into the molten metal 3. The member 1 is lowered toward an arrow Y direction until the receiving members 14 provided to the supporting member 13 of a hoisting member 12 are fitted to the top ends of the members 11. The member 1 is thus inserted into the mold down to the prescribed depth position. |
