PURPOSE:To obtain a clad pin having high joint accuracy and joint strength by butting a material to be joined and base metal consisting of different metals and concentrating ultrasonic oscillation energy on the butt parts thereby joining the two materials. CONSTITUTION:The material 2 to be joined is passed through a straightener 3 and is intermittently fed to a die 5. On the other hand, the joining base metal 7 consisting of the different metal is fed intermittently through the straightener 3 to a die 8 for header. The front ends of the material 2 and the metal 7 are positioned by the dies 5, 8 so as to contact with each other and the ultrasonic oscillation energy emitted from an ultrasonic power source 9 is acted thereto through a horn 10. The front ends are thus joined to each other simultaneously with the contact. The material 2 and the metal 7 are cut by respective cutters 11 and are worked to a prescribed shape, by which the clad pin 12 is obtd. Although the joining is generally executed at cold, the hard and brittle materials are joined at warm. |
