PURPOSE:To surely hold a magnetic thin film and in addition, to stabilize the finish of a magnetic head in the manufacturing process of the magnetic head, by providing a wedge which press-contacts the magnetic thin film with the inner side face of a core inserting groove in the vicinity of the opening section of the core inserting groove. CONSTITUTION:An amorphous magnetic thin film 5 is inserted into the core inserting groove 8 of a firmly joined block body 13 and, after a wedge 9 is inserted into the groove with pressure, the magnetic thin film 5 is firmly stuck by means of a low-melting point glass rod 14. Then the joined block body 13 is cut at the gap forming position and the cut surfaces are polished. Then the block bodies 13 are again firmly joined to each other and gaps 6 are formed. Thereafter, the block body 13 is sliced along A-A' lines and magnetic heads are manufactured. Polishing operations are performed under a condition where the upper end section of the magnetic thin film 5 is press-contacted with the inner side face of the core inserting groove. Therefore, vibrations received by the upper end section 5 during the course of the polishing operation are reduced and the magnetic head can be finished excellently. |
