PURPOSE:To generate a program to be executed by personal computers with a different instruction system such as a pocket computer by converting a program written in intermediate code into character codes or vice versa. CONSTITUTION:A display part LCD composed of liquid-crystal elements displays characters and turn on symbol segments under the control of a display control part DSC, and a key input part KEY inputs a key strobe signal from an input port I/OPORT and outputs a key return signal to a microprocessor unit MPU. Further, the I/OPORT is connected to buses AB, DB, and CB to input and output signals to and from an input/output device, and outputs the key strobe signal to the input part KEY. The unit MPU outputs a synchronizing signal HA and an on-off signal DISP to the control part DSC and a back plate signal to the display part LCD, and the control part DSC incorporates a display memory corresponding to respective segments of the display part LCD to correspond to respective bits, thereby displaying desired characters and symbols.
