PURPOSE:To obtain a porous ceramic construction body having a collecting efficiency held at a fixed level and having a structure permitting moderate increase of pressure drop by constructing a wall thickness of a part of the walls among many internal walls interposed between an inlet passage and an outlet passage thinner than the wall thicknesses of other parts. CONSTITUTION:Ceramic carriers 2 are provided in a porous ceramic construction body 1 forming many passages. Two kinds of groups of the passage are included, the first group comprises inlet passages 3 opening at one end 2a of the carrier 2 and being closed at another end 2b, and the second group comprises outlet passages 4 having a structure reverse to the structure of the first group. Internal walls 7 are constructed between the passages 3 and 4. The carrier 2 has a three- dimensional network structure. The diameter of the outlet passage 4 is made larger in a part of the outlet passage 4 region than the dia. of the outlet passages 4 in other region, and the thickness of the internal walls 7 in a part of the outlet passages is made thinner than the wall thickness of the same in other region.
