PURPOSE:To improve the settling and dehydration properties of sludge and to control the elution of phosphorus by adding firstly a metallic salt to sludge after treating waste water contg. phosphate, and then adding an AH polymer and an AA polymer to the sludge. CONSTITUTION:An aluminum or an iron metallic salt is firstly added to excess sludge generated when waste water contg. phosphates is anaerobically or aerobically treated with activated sludge, and an acrylic acid hydrazide high molecular compd. and a high molecular compd. contg. an amino group or a quanternary ammonium salt are then added to dehydrate the sludge. Consequently, the settling and dehydration properties of sludge are improved, and the elution of phosphorus from excess sludge which is generated in a biological dephosphorization method is controlled. In addition, a compd. shown by the formula is used as said hydrazide compd.
