PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration in gloss of an unpainted surface by covering the unpainted surface with a protective film when the painted surface is treated with an organic solvent to prevent the damage of the unpainted surface with the organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:In a separate painting method of a plastic product for forming a separation line 3 from an unpainted surface 2 which is left to leave the original color of the product intact to paint other colors on the surface of a product 1, the surface 4 to be painted is masked with a masking jig 5 by using the separation line 3 as the boundary, and then a protective film 6 is formed on the unpainted surface 2. Then after the surface 4 to be painted is exposed by removing the masking, the surface 4 to be painted is treated with an organic solvent to increase the adhesive strength of the paint to the surface 4 to be painted. Subsequently, the painting of the surface 4 to be painted, the drying of the painted surface 4, and the release of the protective film 6 are successively carried out. Consequently, the unpainted surface is not damaged by the organic solvent, and the deterioration in gloss of the unpainted surface can be prevented.
