CONSTITUTION:In taking a scanning window as 2X2 picture element, as the scanning window 6 is moved by one picture element each in the main scanning direction and the sub scanning direction, a picture element Dmn in the scanning window 6 is subject to 4 times data conversion. In executing data conversion as to all data of an original picture, when the data value is small, number of 0s is large and when the data value is large, the number of C=Dmax is large and the data is being converted in proportion to the data value of the original picture data. Thus, in using a binary-coded data to the value subject to data conversion, the data of pseudo intermediate display is obtained.
