METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING SLIDE FASTENER FROM CONTINUOUS FASTENER CHAIN

The fastener chain has alternating longitudinal portions of engaged fastener elements and element free gaps. The appts. includes a drive roller(9) which draws the chain past a sensor which detects a gap and halts the drive roller with the gap properly positioned in an assembly station. An enlarger(5) transversely widens the gap and partially uncouples upstream fastener elements. A rotor has a holding portion which siezes a slider, passes it to the widened gap, threads it in an upstream direction onto the uncoupled elements and then releases it. A feed assembly delivers sliders one at a time to the holding portion.
