PURPOSE:To improve detecting sensitivity and to facilitate connecting work with lead wires, by folding a magnetoresistance element at its intermediate part. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic information of a magnetic recording medium 1 is a digital signal having a constant wavelength. In this case, a magnetoresistance element 2 is folded at a position, where the length is the integer times the wavelength. Lead-wire attaching parts R1 and R2, detecting parts R3 and R4 and a crossover part R5 are provided so as to form a U-shape. The lead-wire attaching parts R1 and R2 of the resistance element 2, which is evaporated on a substrate 4, are located outside a facing gap (g) of the recording medium 1. Therefore, the detecting parts R3 and R4 of the resistance element 2 are located sufficiently closely to the magnetic information recording surface of the recording medium 1 even if solder 5 becomes thick, and detecting sensitivity can be increased. Since the lead-wire attaching parts R1 and R2 are located outside the recording medium 1, connecting work with a lead wire 3 can be made easy. |
